India has been praised by the United Nations for its affirmative action on climate change, with the 2023 Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) declaring India as the only G20 country on track to achieve its climate targets. During the India Climate Summit in Delhi, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted that India has achieved its target of reducing emissions intensity by 33 to 35% over the 2005 level, 11 years ahead of the 2030 deadline. Yadav emphasized the country's nature-oriented ethos and values, and outlined India's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) which include reducing carbon emissions, increasing renewable energy, and expanding green areas. The summit also saw discussions on the importance of planting trees and addressing environmental issues such as the use of small plastic sheets in industries.
