Syrian Rebels Launch 'Deterrence of Aggression,' Advance 5-10 Km Near Aleppo
Nov 27, 2024, 01:32 PM
Syrian rebel forces, led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Command of Military Operations, have launched a significant offensive in northwestern Syria, targeting Assad regime positions in western Aleppo and Idlib. The operation, named 'Deterrence of Aggression,' has resulted in the capture of several strategic locations, including the 46th Regiment base and multiple villages such as Qabtan al-Jabal, Anjara, Hauta, Sheikh Aqil, Bala, Saloum, Kafr Bisin, and Hawra. Rebel forces have advanced to within 5-10 kilometers of Aleppo city. This marks the most substantial rebel offensive in the region since 2020. In response, Syrian and Russian forces have conducted heavy airstrikes and artillery bombardments on rebel-held areas, including Darat Izza, Kafr Ammah, and other locations. The clashes have reportedly resulted in significant casualties on both sides, and the situation remains highly volatile.
