New York Implements NYS Paid Lactation Break Requirement for Breastfeeding Mothers
Jun 19, 2024, 12:45 PM
New York State has implemented a new law requiring paid break time for mothers to pump breast milk at work, effective June 19, 2024. The New York State Department of Labor has issued updated materials on workplace lactation rights to support this mandate. Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized her commitment to protecting working parents, stating, 'As New York’s first mom Governor, I am fighting every day to give working parents the protections they need to keep their families.' This new requirement, known as the NYS Paid Lactation Break Requirement, aims to provide necessary support for breastfeeding mothers in the workplace.
