China to Issue $138 Billion in Ultra-Long Bonds to Boost Economy

China's Finance Ministry announced plans to issue 1 trillion yuan ($138 billion) of ultra-long special central government bonds. The issuance, scheduled to start on May 17, 2024, includes 300 billion yuan in 20-year bonds, 600 billion yuan in 30-year notes, and 100 billion yuan in 50-year tenors. This strategic fiscal move aims to support the world's second-largest economy, with the complete issuance expected by the end of November 2024. This marks the fourth sale of such bonds in the past 26 years.
