House Passes Bipartisan TICKET Act to Ensure Transparency in Event Ticket Sales, Including URL Protections
May 15, 2024, 10:37 PM
The House of Representatives has passed the bipartisan TICKET Act, aimed at restoring fairness and transparency in the event ticket marketplace. The legislation, which requires event ticket sellers to disclose the total ticket price including fees in any advertisement or promotional materials, seeks to protect consumers from deceptive practices, fraudulent tickets, surprise costs, and excessive fees. The bill was supported by key figures including Rep. Frank Pallone, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, and Rep. Gus Bilirakis. The TICKET Act, which also includes an amendment to make URLs less deceptive, will now move to the Senate for approval before it can be signed into law by President Biden. This vote was part of a broader effort that included debate on 13 bills from the Energy & Commerce Committee.
