VisitSenate Inquiry Finds BMW, Jaguar Imported Cars Tied to Forced Labor in China
May 20, 2024, 01:50 PM
A Senate inquiry has found that BMW and other automakers, including Jaguar, imported cars and parts tied to forced labor in China. The investigation by the Senate Finance Committee, reported by the NYT, revealed that these companies failed to adequately police their supply chains for components made with forced labor. Specifically, parts were sourced from a Chinese supplier flagged for forced labor practices. Despite automakers' claims of being unable to find forced labor in their supply chains, the oversight staff uncovered these violations.
