SEC Appeals Judge Torres's Ripple Decision to Second Circuit
Oct 2, 2024, 09:11 PM
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a one-page notice of appeal against Ripple Labs on October 2, 2024, just ahead of the October 7 deadline. The appeal challenges the July 2023 ruling by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres, which determined that only some of Ripple's sales of XRP tokens violated securities laws, while others did not. The SEC is appealing to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. The ongoing case is closely watched as it may set a significant precedent for cryptocurrency regulation in the United States.
