Doctors in Wales Accept 12.4% Pay Offer for 2023-24, Ending Strikes
Jun 28, 2024, 10:27 AM
Consultants, junior doctors, and specialist doctors in Wales have voted to accept a new pay offer from the Welsh Government for 2023-24, bringing an end to ongoing strikes. The British Medical Association’s committees for these groups have all agreed to the pay offer. Junior doctors have accepted a 12.4% pay increase, backdated to April 2023, following an initial 5% offer that led to three rounds of strike action. Consultants and SAS doctors have also settled their pay dispute. The acceptance of this offer ends a long-running dispute and highlights the commitment of the Welsh Government to address the concerns of its medical workforce.
