Pentagon Denies Iranian Link as SUV-Sized, Lit-Up Drones Alarm New Jersey Residents
Dec 12, 2024, 11:45 AM
Residents and officials in New Jersey are expressing concern over recent sightings of large, mysterious drones flying over the state. The drones, some reportedly the size of SUVs and lit up with flashing lights at night, have been observed in clusters and waves, often near sensitive locations such as military research facilities and police departments. One journalist reported witnessing a drone measuring approximately 40 feet by 40 feet at an altitude of 150 feet. Despite multiple reports over recent weeks, authorities have yet to identify the operators of these drones. The Pentagon has acknowledged awareness of the situation but has denied that the drones are U.S. military assets or linked to any foreign entities or adversaries, including Iran and China. This follows claims by Congressman Jeff Van Drew that the drones may be originating from an Iranian 'mothership' off the U.S. coast, which the Pentagon has refuted. Homeland Security officials have briefed state lawmakers, noting that the drones evade detection by traditional methods such as helicopter and radio. In response, the federal government is deploying drone-specific radar to New Jersey to investigate the sightings. Local law enforcement, the FBI, and mayors are seeking answers and demanding federal action, but so far, residents and officials remain frustrated by the lack of information.
