North Korea Deploys Elite Special Operations Forces to Russia, Possible Redeployment to Ukraine
Oct 19, 2024, 05:20 PM
North Korea has deployed its elite Special Operations Forces (SOF) to Russia, according to The Telegraph. This unit is considered one of the most secretive and well-equipped in the world. A 2021 U.S. intelligence report describes the SOF as highly trained and motivated. The personnel sent to Vladivostok are reportedly from the 200,000-strong ranks of the SOF. Western analysts suggest that these troops may be redeployed to Ukraine. The North Korean regime has likely only sent elite personnel, fearing that other North Koreans would probably defect to the West.
