A recent poll conducted by The New York Times and Ipsos, surveying 2,128 adults from January 2 to January 10, 2025, indicates that a majority of Americans support President-elect Donald J. Trump's proposed mass deportation policies. Specifically, 55% of respondents expressed support for deporting all undocumented immigrants from the country, while 42% opposed the measure. Support for deporting undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. during the Biden administration was even higher, at 63%. Additionally, 87% of Americans favor deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records. The poll also showed 56% support and 41% opposition for deporting all illegal immigrants, with a net support of +13. Further, 68% of Americans support mass deportation, and 86% support the deportation of undocumented immigrants with criminal records. The poll reflects a broad public sentiment in favor of stringent immigration policies as Trump prepares to take office.
