On December 11, 2024, Meta's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads, experienced widespread outages affecting users globally. Reports indicate that users were unable to access services or experienced significant disruptions on these platforms starting around 18:07 GMT. According to Downdetector, over 25,990 reports of Facebook outages, 23,689 reports of Instagram outages, and 7,348 reports of WhatsApp outages were recorded in the U.S. as of 12:55 PM ET. Meta's advertising services, such as Facebook Ads Manager, were also impacted. Meta has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the outages.
