Oct 7, 2024, 04:07 AM
On October 6, around 11 p.m., a suicide bombing occurred near Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, targeting a convoy of Chinese engineers and investors from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company. The attack, claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army's elite Majeed Brigade, involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. At least two Chinese nationals were killed and several others, including Pakistani security personnel, were injured as the convoy was exiting the airport. Pakistani officials, including Sindh Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjhar, confirmed the attack and the involvement of foreign nationals. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan condemned the 'heinous act' and called for a thorough investigation and severe punishment of the perpetrators. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow, condemning the attack as an assault on Pakistan-China friendship.
