MLB to Produce and Distribute Guardians, Brewers, and Twins Games in 2025, Ending Blackouts
Oct 8, 2024, 06:47 PM
Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that it will produce and distribute local games for the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, and Minnesota Twins starting in the 2025 season. These teams will join the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Colorado Rockies, who are already under MLB's broadcasting umbrella. This move includes the introduction of a direct-to-consumer streaming option, effectively eliminating local blackout restrictions. According to Minnesota Twins president Dave St. Peter, this new arrangement will end blackouts, which have been a significant issue for fans. The Texas Rangers, meanwhile, have decided not to go with Diamond Sports Group and are considering local media options. Additionally, the Minnesota Twins will launch TwinsTV in 2025. This change follows a reduced one-year deal with Bally Sports last offseason.
