Meta to Cut 3,600 Jobs, Targeting 5% Lowest Performers
Jan 14, 2025, 04:03 PM
Meta Platforms Inc. is planning to cut about 5% of its lowest-performing employees this year, totaling approximately 3,600 jobs, according to an internal memo from CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The company refers to this reduction as 'non-regrettable attrition' and expects to reach 10% attrition by the end of the performance cycle. It intends to backfill their roles, aiming to raise the performance bar and move out low-performers faster. Zuckerberg stated, "I've decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster." The move follows previous layoffs of 11,000 employees last fall.
