Tesla to Launch Robotaxi Services in 2025, Texas Pilot Next Year, U.S. EV Market Share Above 9%
Oct 28, 2024, 08:43 PM
Deutsche Bank analysts expect Tesla to roll out its highly anticipated robotaxi services as early as 2025, with small-scale operations in Texas likely to launch next year. ARK Invest believes this launch will unlock a multi-trillion dollar opportunity for Tesla, leveraging lower costs per mile compared to current ride-hail services. Tesla has been testing a ride-hail service for approximately one year. ARK notes that Tesla should enjoy a price umbrella at its robotaxi launch, thanks to the high level of current ride-hail prices, with costs estimated at $0.30-0.40 per mile. Additionally, S&P Global Mobility forecasts that the U.S. market share for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will reach above 9% for the first time ever in September and October, driven by models like the Chevy Equinox EV and Honda Prologue.
