200 Aid Trucks Begin Entering Gaza Through Kerem Shalom Crossing Under New Agreement
May 26, 2024, 06:39 AM
The United Nations has reported that only 906 aid truckloads have reached Gaza since Israel's Rafah operation began on May 7. President Biden secured a commitment from Egypt to resume deliveries of U.N. aid into Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing after discussions with Egypt's president. Under U.S. pressure, the Egyptian government agreed to resume the flow of aid trucks to Gaza through Israel, following a halt in deliveries due to Israel's takeover of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing. Approximately 200 aid trucks, including four fuel trucks, are expected to enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing, according to Khaled Zayed, the head of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society in North Sinai. Aid trucks have already begun entering Gaza under this new agreement.
