Walt Disney Co. has announced significant price hikes for its streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. The price increases, which will take effect on October 17, 2024, will see Disney+ with ads rise from $7.99 to $9.99 per month, and the ad-free tier increase from $13.99 to $15.99 per month. Hulu's ad-supported plan will also go up from $7.99 to $9.99 monthly, while the ad-free version will rise from $17.99 to $18.99. Additionally, Disney is introducing new channels and continuous playlists for a 'lean-back' viewing experience. The price hikes, as much as 25%, will also affect bundles, including the Duo Basic and Trio bundle plans. These changes come as part of a broader strategy to enhance content offerings and adjust to market conditions. The announcement was made ahead of Disney's quarterly earnings report, which is expected to be released on August 7, 2024.
