Delta Sues CrowdStrike Over July 19 Outage That Canceled 7,000 Flights, Cost $500 Million
Oct 26, 2024, 02:53 AM
Delta Air Lines has filed a lawsuit against cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike following a global technology outage on July 19 that resulted in thousands of flight cancellations and significant financial losses. The outage, which Delta attributes to a 'catastrophic' software update by CrowdStrike that disabled millions of computers worldwide, disrupted travel plans for 1.3 million customers and grounded much of the airline's passenger fleet. Delta claims the incident led to over 7,000 canceled flights and cost the carrier more than $500 million. The lawsuit was filed in a Georgia state court and accuses CrowdStrike of cutting corners that led to the worldwide outage.
