Chai Discovery Raises $30M, Unveils Chai-1 Rivaling AlphaFold3 for Drug Discovery
Sep 9, 2024, 04:46 PM
Chai Discovery, an artificial intelligence biology startup founded six months ago, has raised nearly $30 million from Thrive Capital and OpenAI to advance AI-driven drug discovery. The company has unveiled Chai-1, a multimodal molecular structure prediction model that rivals AlphaFold3 and ESM3 in performance. Chai-1, developed in just four months, is open-source and includes inference code, weights, and a web interface. The model is designed to accelerate drug discovery by predicting molecular structures from sequences, showcasing significant potential in the field. Co-founders Josh and Jack Dent, who have been Neo Scholars since 2017, lead the initiative.
