India Calls on Bangladesh's Interim Government to Protect Hindus Amid Rising Extremist Violence
Nov 29, 2024, 10:19 AM
India has expressed concern over the safety and security of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh following reports of threats, targeted attacks, and desecration of Hindu temples. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), through its spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, stated that India has consistently and strongly raised these issues with the Bangladeshi government. "We are concerned at the surge of extremist rhetoric, increasing incidents of violence and provocation," Jaiswal said. The MEA urged the interim government of Bangladesh to live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities and to take all necessary steps to ensure their safety and the protection of their places of worship. MEA Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh addressed the Indian Parliament on the matter, emphasizing the government's call upon Bangladesh to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities.
