Dutch Expands Export Measures for ASML’s 1970DI and 1980DI Tools
Sep 6, 2024, 07:56 AM
The Dutch government has announced an expansion of export measures for advanced semiconductor equipment, specifically impacting ASML. Under the new rules, two additional immersion DUV tools, the 1970DI and 1980DI, will now fall under the Dutch export licensing regime. This change means that the Netherlands, rather than the United States, will oversee the export of these ASML tools. Dutch Trade Minister emphasized that the new export controls were made for safety reasons. The updated export controls require ASML to apply for licenses with the Dutch government to ship certain older chip-making machines, including TWINSCAN, to China. Despite these changes, ASML stated that its 2024 financial outlook remains unaffected.
