Smithsonian’s National Zoo to Welcome Bao Li and Qing Bao, Two New Giant Pandas from China
May 29, 2024, 01:33 PM
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., announced that two new giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, will arrive from China by the end of this year. Bao Li, a male, and Qing Bao, a female, both two years old, will be part of a 10-year breeding and research agreement between the zoo and China. This announcement comes approximately six months after the zoo returned its previous three pandas to China. The new pandas are expected to enhance the zoo's conservation efforts and delight visitors. The announcement was made alongside the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS).
