Falun Gong Persecution in China Marks 25 Years, U.S. Rallies Held
Jul 11, 2024, 03:59 PM
The persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual meditation practice also known as Falun Dafa, continues in China, marking its 25th year on July 20. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been targeting Falun Gong practitioners since 1999, subjecting them to severe human rights abuses, including torture, arbitrary detention, organ harvesting, and restrictions on religious freedom. Thousands of Falun Gong adherents from across the United States are gathering to commemorate this somber anniversary with rallies and marches in Washington, D.C. U.S. lawmakers and officials, including the State Department, have condemned these abuses. Representative John Boozman from Arkansas and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) have expressed solidarity with Falun Gong practitioners, highlighting their courage and resilience in the face of ongoing persecution. The CECC has called on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to join in condemning the CCP's actions.
