49 Ukrainians Released from Russian Captivity, Including 23 Women, Azov Brigade Members, and Civilians

On September 13, 2024, 49 Ukrainians were released from Russian captivity and returned home. The group includes soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the National Police, the State Border Guard Service, and civilians. Among the released are 15 members of the Azov Brigade, including women, and Leniye Umerova, a civilian girl who was taken hostage while visiting Crimea to care for her sick father. Additionally, 23 women and some Azovstal defenders were among those freed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the team securing the releases and emphasized the ongoing efforts to bring back all captured Ukrainians.
