The decision, reportedly unanimous among senior figures at the club, came after the team's 2-1 defeat by West Ham United. Ten Hag, appointed in April 2022, led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in 2023, breaking a six-year trophy drought.
