No. 18 Michigan secured a dramatic 27-24 victory over No. 11 USC in their Big Ten opener. Running back Kalel Mullings was instrumental, rushing for 159 yards on 17 carries and scoring two touchdowns, including the game-winning one-yard plunge with 37 seconds remaining. Despite only passing for 32 yards, Michigan's ground game dominated, accumulating nearly 300 rushing yards. Donovan Edwards also contributed significantly with a 41-yard touchdown run.
