Ukraine Destroys Seym River Bridges, Trapping Russian Troops in Kursk
Aug 20, 2024, 01:00 PM
Ukrainian forces have reportedly destroyed all three major bridges over the Seym River in Russia's Kursk region, according to multiple sources. This strategic move is part of Ukraine's ongoing incursion into the region, which has been underway for nearly two weeks. The destruction of these bridges is aimed at disrupting the supply lines of Russian troops and potentially encircling approximately 3,000 Russian soldiers in the area. In response, Russian forces attempted to construct pontoon bridges to reestablish connectivity, but these too were targeted and destroyed by Ukrainian strikes, including the use of FPV drones and HIMARS missile systems. The pontoon bridge in the Glushkovsky district was among those destroyed. The Ukrainian military claims to have seized over 80 settlements, covering more than 1,150 square kilometers, as part of their advance into the Kursk region.
