Microsoft Launches Cybersecurity Program for 150 Rural Hospitals in Texas Amid Rising Attacks
Jun 10, 2024, 07:30 PM
Microsoft has launched a new cybersecurity program aimed at helping rural hospitals defend against increasing cyberattacks. The initiative, known as the Microsoft Cybersecurity Program for Rural Hospitals, will provide resources and support to more than 150 rural hospitals in Texas. This effort comes in response to a surge in cyberattacks that have caused emergency room shutdowns, delayed medical procedures, and disrupted patient care across the nation, particularly in rural areas. The American Hospital Association (AHA) has also secured new cybersecurity resources from Microsoft and Google to assist these hospitals. Additionally, a provision to strengthen rural hospitals was included in the recently passed Farm Bill by the House Agriculture Committee, emphasizing the importance of maintaining quality healthcare in rural communities.
