Google to Remove Vulnerable Showcase.apk Due to Security Flaw in Pixel Phones
Aug 15, 2024, 01:10 PM
A significant security flaw has been discovered in Google Pixel phones due to a pre-installed app called Showcase.apk. This app, which has been present on Pixel devices since 2017, was originally developed by Smith Micro for Verizon. The vulnerability could potentially allow hackers to execute remote code on millions of Android phones. In response to the report by iVerify, Google has announced that it will remove the Showcase.apk from Pixel devices as a precautionary measure. The flaw affects all Pixel devices released before the P9 model.
