Over 2,400 Patients in Portland Exposed to HIV, Hepatitis in Hospitals
Jul 12, 2024, 06:50 PM
More than 2,400 patients at hospitals around Portland, Oregon, may have been exposed to infectious diseases such as hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV. This exposure is linked to an anesthesiologist who may not have followed infection control practices, according to health officials. The affected hospitals include Providence and Legacy health systems. Patients are being advised to get blood tests to determine if they have been infected. The breach occurred at two hospitals and is described as an infection control breach over recent months.
