Chiefs' Mahomes Injures Leg, Returns to Sidelines Against Buccaneers
Nov 5, 2024, 03:27 AM
During Monday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sustained an apparent left leg injury after throwing a touchdown pass to Samaje Perine that tied the game at 17-17 in the third quarter. The injury, which occurred on a non-contact play, may involve his ankle. Mahomes was initially helped off the field by trainers and went directly into the blue medical tent for evaluation. Backup quarterback Carson Wentz began warming up on the sidelines in preparation to enter the game. However, Mahomes later emerged from the tent, was seen jogging and throwing on the sidelines, and spoke with head coach Andy Reid, indicating a possible return to play. The extent of his injury is currently unknown.
