VisitSpaceX Gets FCC Approval for Starlink Direct to Cell and Proposes Marslink for High-Speed Mars-Earth Internet
Nov 8, 2024, 02:37 PM
SpaceX has received emergency authorization from the FCC for its Starlink Direct to Cell system, which acts as a space-based cell network to deliver SMS messages. SpaceX is collaborating with Rogers Communications in Canada to bring this technology to remote areas. Additionally, SpaceX has proposed 'Marslink,' an adaptation of its Starlink satellite network, to deliver high-speed internet connectivity between Mars and Earth. This groundbreaking project, presented to NASA, aims to establish a stable Mars-Earth communication system. Elon Musk described Marslink as a basic first step towards achieving petabit-per-second connectivity between the two planets.
