Chinese engineers and the Taliban government have commenced operations at the Mes Aynak copper mine in Afghanistan on Wednesday, July 24, marking the beginning of a significant project to extract the world's second-largest copper deposit. This development follows a 16-year delay due to war. The Metallurgical Group Corp (MCC) of China is leading the extraction operations. The Taliban administration has also started constructing a road to the remote mine site.
