Elastic Returns Elasticsearch to Open Source with AGPL License
Aug 30, 2024, 05:35 PM
Elastic, the company behind Elasticsearch, has announced that Elasticsearch is now available under the AGPL, an OSI-approved open source license. This move marks a return to open source for Elasticsearch, which is also available under other non-OSI source-available licenses such as ELv2 and SSPL. Shay Banon, Elastic's Founder and CTO, expressed joy at the decision, highlighting the influence of AWS's development of OpenSearch as a factor in Elastic's return to open source.
