Japan Partners with Tenstorrent to Train 200 Chip Designers
Nov 5, 2024, 08:30 AM
Japan has partnered with US chip startup Tenstorrent to train a new wave of engineers. Tenstorrent, founded by Apple and Intel veterans, will help train up to 200 Japanese chip designers at its U.S. offices over five years. The program, described by Tenstorrent's CCO David Bennett as the first of its kind, aims to revitalize Japan's silicon industry and technology leadership. The Japanese government will send engineers to be trained in RISC-V and AI, providing Tenstorrent with free engineering talent and revenue, while fostering good relationships with the engineers' companies. This innovative program is a collaboration with the Japanese gov't.
