On May 31, Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner of war exchange, with each side returning 75 individuals. The exchange, which was brokered by the United Arab Emirates, saw Ukraine receiving soldiers from the Armed Forces, National Guard, border guards, and four civilians. Among those returned to Ukraine were women, defenders of Zmiiny Island, and servicemen from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the exchange, highlighting the return of 75 Ukrainian citizens. The Russian Defense Ministry, cited by RIA, confirmed the return of 75 Russian servicemen from Ukraine-controlled territory.
