Las Vegas experienced its hottest day on record on July 7, 2024, reaching a temperature of 120°F (48.9°C) at Harry Reid International Airport. This new record surpassed the previous high of 117°F, which was set multiple times between 1942 and 2021. The temperature climbed to 119°F around 3 p.m. and reached 120°F by 4 p.m. The extreme heatwave affecting Nevada and California has led to numerous record-breaking temperatures across the region.
