AT&T Discloses Major Data Breach Affecting 109 Million Mobile Users via Snowflake
Jul 12, 2024, 10:59 AM
AT&T has disclosed a significant data breach involving the call and text records of nearly all its mobile-phone users. The breach, which occurred in April, affected data from around 109 million customer accounts, primarily covering a six-month period from May to October 2022 and January 2, 2023. The stolen data, which was illegally downloaded from Snowflake Inc.'s cloud platform, includes metadata showing which phone numbers were called or texted by customers. However, the breach did not include the content of the calls or messages. AT&T has announced that it will begin notifying affected consumers about the incident.
