EU to Extend Ukrainian Military Training Until 2026 Despite Hungary's Objections
Oct 14, 2024, 05:07 PM
The European Union plans to extend its military training mission for Ukrainian troops by two years, until 2026, according to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell. The current program, launched in 2022 and set to expire later this year, has already trained over 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers. The extension aims to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with more capabilities amid considerable pressure on the extended front line. However, Hungary opposes the formal prolongation of the program, potentially hindering the decision, a source told Semafor news outlet.
