Tulsa Fires Kevin Wilson After 63-30 Loss; Ex-NFL WR Ryan Switzer Named Interim Coach
Nov 24, 2024, 03:26 PM
Following a 63-30 loss to South Florida on Saturday, the University of Tulsa announced the firing of head football coach Kevin Wilson. Wilson, who previously served as head coach at Indiana and offensive coordinator at Ohio State and Oklahoma, amassed a 7-16 record over two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, including a 1-6 record in the American Athletic Conference this season. Tulsa's wide receivers coach, Ryan Switzer—a former standout at the University of North Carolina and former NFL wide receiver—has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season. This marks the sixth head coaching change in the AAC and the eleventh in the Football Bowl Subdivision, with all changes occurring in the Group of Five conferences. Athletic Director Justin Moore expressed gratitude for Wilson's contributions and indicated a commitment by the university to invest in the football program at a championship level within the AAC.
