UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary Officers Begin Historic Strike Over Pay on August 15
Aug 15, 2024, 05:53 AM
The UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) officers have initiated a historic strike, marking an unprecedented action in the organization's history. The strike, which began on August 15, 2024, is driven by grievances over pay, with officers highlighting that their wages are significantly below commercial equivalents. Since 2010, RFA officers have experienced a real terms pay cut of over 30%. The entire wage bill for the RFA amounts to just £94 million per year. The strike action has received support from unions such as Nautilus International and RMT Union, which are advocating for fair pay for these essential seafarers. RMT Royal Fleet Auxiliary ratings are also set to strike on August 16.
