China's Defence Minister Dong Jun Probed for Corruption in PLA, Third in Row
Nov 27, 2024, 01:32 AM
China has placed its Defence Minister Dong Jun under investigation as part of a broader probe into corruption within the People's Liberation Army (PLA), according to US officials. Dong Jun, who was appointed in December 2023 following the dismissal of his predecessor for similar reasons, is now the third consecutive serving or former defence minister to face scrutiny for alleged corruption. This investigation is part of President Xi Jinping's ongoing anti-corruption campaign, which has previously targeted other high-ranking military officials.
