USMNT Faces Copa America Exit After 2-1 Loss to Panama, Weah Red Card
Jun 27, 2024, 11:56 PM
The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Panama in the Copa America group stage, putting their chances of advancing to the knockout rounds in jeopardy. The match, held in Atlanta, saw early drama with Tim Weah receiving a red card in the 18th minute for an off-ball incident. Despite playing with ten men, the USMNT initially held their ground, with Folarin Balogun scoring a goal. However, Panama equalized shortly after and took the lead in the 83rd minute with a goal from José Fajardo. The game also featured a disallowed goal and a disallowed penalty for the USMNT, as well as an injury to goalkeeper Matt Turner. The USMNT will now need to secure a win against Uruguay in their final group stage match to have any hope of advancing. Uruguay, who recently defeated Bolivia 5-0, poses a significant challenge for the US team.
