University of Pennsylvania graduate students, including those at Penn Med, have successfully voted to unionize with the United Auto Workers (UAW), marking a significant development in labor organization in Philadelphia. The vote, which concluded with an overwhelming majority of 1807 to 97 from over 2000 participating grad workers, signifies the largest new private sector union in the city in more than 50 years.
