Ukraine Foils Russian Plot to Assassinate President Zelensky
May 7, 2024, 02:05 PM
Ukrainian officials have revealed a network of Russian agents planning to assassinate President Zelensky. The SBU State Security Service caught Russian agents within the Ukrainian state guard service plotting the assassination. Two Ukrainian security officials were detained for a plot coordinated by Russia to assassinate senior Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky. The detained officials were recruited by Russia and were part of a group planning to assassinate Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. The plot involved two Ukrainian government protection unit colonels who were searching for 'executors' among Zelensky's bodyguards to take him hostage and kill him. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said they foiled a Russian plot to assassinate President Zelensky, leading to the arrests of two Ukrainian colonels accused of participating in the plot.
