Gatik Secures $30 Million from Isuzu to Scale Up Autonomous Trucks, Celebrates Isuzu's 40th Anniversary
May 15, 2024, 01:29 PM
Startup Gatik has secured a $30 million investment from Isuzu Motors to scale up its autonomous truck operations. The partnership aims to mass produce SAE Level 4 medium-duty autonomous trucks, marking the first collaboration between an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and an autonomy partner for this purpose. The trucks will enable freight-only, driverless operations. Isuzu plans to open a new factory in 2027 dedicated to manufacturing these trucks, which will feature redundant safety systems. Additionally, Gatik secured $41 million CAD from Isuzu as part of the expanded partnership.
