NHTSA and Nissan Warn Owners to Stop Driving 84,000 Older Vehicles Due to Recalled Takata Air Bags
May 29, 2024, 01:45 PM
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Nissan have issued an urgent warning to owners of nearly 84,000 older Nissan vehicles to stop driving them immediately due to a high risk of exploding Takata air bag inflators. This warning affects certain models, including 2002 to 2006 Sentra small cars, 2002 to 2004 Pathfinder SUVs, and 2002 and 2003 Infiniti QX4 SUVs. The recall follows incidents where one individual was killed and 58 others were injured by the defective air bag inflators, which can explode in a crash and hurl metal fragments. These vehicles are part of a broader recall of unrepaired Takata air bags.
