Federal Judge Issues Temporary Restraining Order Blocking Biden's New Gun Background Check Rule
May 20, 2024, 12:38 AM
A federal judge has issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the Biden administration's new rule requiring gun dealers to obtain licenses and conduct background checks when selling firearms at gun shows and online. The rule, which was set to take effect on May 20, was perceived by some as a backdoor attempt at universal registration checks. The TRO was partially granted by Judge Kacsmaryk and protects Texans and members of organizations such as the Gun Owners of America (GOA), Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and Texas Firearms Association (TFA). Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton expressed relief over the decision, which he believes stops an unlawful rule from taking effect and protects the Second Amendment.
