Russia Vows Retaliation for Ukraine's ATACMS Strike on Taganrog Airfield
Dec 12, 2024, 09:29 AM
The Kremlin has announced that Russia will respond to Ukraine's recent missile attack on the Beriev aviation plant in Taganrog, which was carried out using American-supplied ATACMS missiles. The attack resulted in one soldier killed and 41 wounded, with damage also reported at a military unit housing the 5th Aviation Group of the 6955th Air Base. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesman, stated that the response would occur 'at a time and in a manner deemed appropriate.' This statement follows a warning from the Russian Ministry of Defense about the consequences of such actions. The ATACMS strike is seen by some as a preemptive move by Ukraine ahead of a potential large-scale Russian missile strike, following weeks of strategic aviation rebasing.
